Words to Live By: My All-Time Favorite Verses

So I realized recently that I haven’t made a list of my favorite Bible verses.

I really couldn’t believe it until I looked back over all my posts. But not one focused on just scripture.

I’m fixing that today.

You know how most things get old after you’ve seen them for a while? You get tired of songs you’ve heard over and over. You get tired of seeing the same movie your favorite channel runs every two days.

Scripture doesn’t do that! I guess that’s why they call it the living Word.

I can think I know a verse inside and out and still be affected like it’s the first time I’ve heard it. Different circumstances bring new revelations and applications.

Amazing.

Anyone who knows me well knows I don’t have one favorite of most things. It’s impossible to pick one! And really, it seems preposterous to have one favorite verse of Scripture. The God of all creation inspires each word. We’d be foolish to not take it all. But this list isn’t a picking and choosing. It’s just a list of what especially sticks with me.

I’m not going to limit this at all, so it could get pretty long. So sorry.

I’ve paraphrased some of these. Sometimes it’s hard for me to memorize scripture. You know…word for word? But the concept sticks with me. I think that’s the important part anyway—not being able to quote.

So in the spirit of not having one favorite, these are in no particular order.

Here are a few extras for ya in case this list wasn’t quite long enough for you. 😉

You are right. There are far too many great verses to choose a favorite. I will list a couple that have come to my mind so many times. “Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10 This one reminds me to stop and remember who is in control. The second one is “Jesus wept.” This one proves He shares my tears.

I almost included ‘Jesus wept.’ It’s always spoken to me and always brings to mind Hebrews: we have a high priest who can empathize with us. Thank you for always stopping by. I can’t say how much I appreciate you!

What a wonderful list! These are lovely, and I’m sure they were fun to put together as well. It is so important to surround ourselves with this life-giving truth!

Thank you for your list of favourite scriptures. Wonderful words of our God. On the top of my list would be Micah 6:8. God makes it so clear and easy to know what is expected of us, “to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”. If we were obedient in doing this, we would be well on the way to being like our Father. And that is truly what I want!
