5 Simple {Yet Powerful} Verses to Live By This Year

Whether you’re the type to set resolutions or not, here are five simple verses to guide your walk this year and beyond.

5 Verses to Live By This Year | HISsparrowBlog

Can you believe another year has passed already? It seems like yesterday that I was starting my prayer journal for the year. Maybe the day before that since I graduated college.

Well, it’s that time of year again—even if it doesn’t feel like it. That time when we look at the past year in all it’s glory and decide what to do differently for the new one. This is the part in previous posts when I’d tell you that I’m not much of a resolutions person, but I think I gotta quit saying that at this point.

Sometimes my resolutions are more loose than say I will read the Bible in exactly one year. I did do that one year, but it ended up taking me a year and a half. Hey, it got done. Progress is progress as they say.

I haven’t figured out what my resolutions are for this year are quite yet or if I’ll set any per se. However, I thought it’d be nice to make a different kind of list in the mean time—one that’s completely Scripture-focused.

Even if I don’t figure out what resolutions to adopt this year, I can never go wrong with these scriptures.

Verses to Live By

Be ready to give an account for the hope that is in you. 1 Peter 3:15 NASB
Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40_31 NASB
My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6 NASB | HISsparrowBlog
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1_7 NASB _ HISsparrowBlog _ #Christian living, #quotes, #scripture
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4 NASB | HISsparrowBlog

Now that I think about it, these scriptures make perfect resolutions for the year—and beyond (because we all know how quickly time seems to pass these days).

Do you normally make resolutions? What are yours this year? Let me know in the comments below.

Great verses to live by this year and every year. One of my favorite verses I live by daily is Joshua 1:9; “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Resolutions…not so much however, plans, goals, ideas to explore, things I want to do etc.

My one word for 2022 is “Wait” so these verses reminded me of my word, which I appreciated. Perhaps the only resolution we need to make this year is to remain faithful to Him.

I never make resolutions, and I’ve never chosen a one word for the year either. But there have been several years the Lord gave me a Bible verse for the year. And that really helped me meditate and focus on God’s Word more than ever. I love the list you have put together here.

I’ve never done the one word for the year either. Using a verse is a wonderful idea! Thanks for stopping in!

Excellent verses for 2022 and beyond (2 Timothy is one of my life verses). I try to stick with something positive at the outset of a new year but, for me, firm resolutions don’t work. However, I have adopted the word of the year practice, which is centering for me throughout the year.

Great verses! I don’t do resolutions, but I did do One Word last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I’m doing it again this year.

That’s wonderful, Lisa! I haven’t tried the one-word resolution yet; I’m still having trouble wrapping my mind around just one word. Maybe one day? Blessings to you.
