Discouragement is an unfortunate part of life, but it doesn’t have to keep hold of us. Read on for five verses for your next season of discouragement.

5 Wonderful Verses for Discouragement | HISsparrowBlog

“I feel discouraged.”

“Why?” my husband said.

I’m sure I listed out a few not-going-my-way things, but I didn’t really know why I felt the way I did. To be honest, there was nothing happening that dire.

Discouragement is that way sometimes, isn’t it? You may not be able to identify the why, because nothing life changing has happened, but you can definitely feel the shade overhead—blocking the sunshine from whatever you do.

As a self-identified reflective person, I always want to figure out the why, but sometimes there’s something and sometimes there’s nothing. There is something we can do, though, to get ready for the sunshine again: Remember that it won’t last forever and we’re not alone.

Thank you for these verses. So many of my favorites in times of discouragement are found in Psalms. Yesterday Psalm 139 was so encouraging to me.

Ashley, John 16:33 has been in front of me for two days now so I was blessed to see it once again this morning in your post. In this time when so much is going on in our world, it all can be so overwhelming and discouraging. I am so grateful to be reminded, repeatedly, that even though we will have troubles and tribulations in this world, Jesus has and will overcome. Grateful you linked up!

I love the one promising to give me rest. My favorite song for encouragement right now is There is Another in the Fire.
