Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day, it can be a difficult holiday for singles. Here are five important messages for the single this Valentine’s.
It’s almost Valentine’s Day again. Yay! Or maybe not.
Valentine’s sure is a polarizing holiday, isn’t it? Probably about as many people who love it, hate it. Despise it. Loooathe it.
Celebrating love is a beautiful thing, but there is this element to Valentine’s Day that reinforces the lie that we’re lacking if we don’t have a special someone to celebrate the day with us.
It wasn’t until I met my husband that I realized just how much validation I sought in a significant other—all while I told myself “I’m fine.” After all, if you’re with someone, someone has chosen you, right?
It also wasn’t until I met my husband that I realized I was already chosen and worthy and loved.
Now it can be easy to look back on your own life—with all you’ve learned since then—and tell others how to live theirs now. I don’t want to do that, but I do want to give you encouragement this Valentine’s Day.
Because you are so much more than your marital status: You’re a child of God if you’ve surrendered to Christ.
Messages for the Single This Valentine’s
#1 – You are valued.
#2 – You are not alone.
#3 – You are worthy.
#4 – You are not forgotten.
#5 – You are loved.
Valentine’s can be a polarizing holiday; as it celebrates something beautiful, it can highlight what others are still yearning for.
But whether you’re engaged, married, or single this year, know that you’re loved, worthy, and never alone as a child of God.
If you’ve never accepted Christ as your Savior (or don’t know what that means), be sure to check out this page.

I have several single friends and yes, they need to hear messages of love as much as those of us who are married do. Beautiful!
Thank you, Lisa!
We don’t need other people to validate us or tell us we are someone special. But sometimes this is the message we hear. Thanks for reminding us we are special and loved.
Thank you for commenting, Theresa!
Thank you for these beautiful reminders. This is a post I’ll be sharing with those who need messages like this one, rather than listening to the lies of the world.
Thank you for commenting, Lisa!
My husband and I try to communicate love and value to his two single sisters by sending them flowers every valentine’s day. Singleness does not equal unloved; it just represents unmarried. They are both loved and valued by their family.
That’s so true, Lisa. What a wonderful idea to love on your sisters-in-law. Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, amen! I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day (or any holiday that seems commercialized with out-of-proportion expectations). Thank you for reminding me to send valentine’s to my daughters and grandson, though ;).
Valentine’s Day can certainly feel too commercialized for some. My husband and I don’t really celebrate it: we prefer to do the everyday kind of love or just surprise each other just because. Thanks so much for commenting.
Such a good post, whether single or married, whether it is Valentines Day or not. So many good reminders. I think #4 – You are not forgotten is one that has been on my mind lately. With being home or isolated, many feel forgotten or unseen. So important to remind others (and ourselves) that the Lord’s eye always sees, He never forgets His own. It’s something I have found myself saying to others lately. Wonderful post!
Yes, it’s so important to remind others they’re not forgotten. Thanks so much for commenting (and featuring this post)!
I love this post. Yes, it can be a challenging holiday for many. Sharing your post.
Thanks for commenting, Maree!
